Autism & ABA Services
Individualized Applied Behavior Analysis designed to help
children, adolescents, and individuals with autism develop
meaningful skills, increase independence, and participate more
confidently in everyday life.
Individualized ABA Treatment
Our clinical team begins by understanding the individual—not
simply the behavior. Through assessment, observation,
collaboration, and ongoing data collection, we develop
individualized treatment goals that are meaningful to the
individual and family.
Treatment plans may be adjusted as progress occurs to ensure
services remain relevant, effective, and aligned with current
needs.
Progress Beyond the Therapy Session
We believe meaningful progress should extend beyond the therapy
environment. Our goal is to help individuals use the skills they
learn with different people, in different places, and across
everyday situations.
We collaborate with caregivers and, when appropriate and
authorized, other members of the individual’s support team to
promote generalization and lasting progress.
Supporting the Whole Family
ABA services are most effective when caregivers feel confident
and supported. We partner with families to build their
understanding of behavioral strategies, strengthen caregiver
implementation, and identify practical ways to incorporate
skill-building opportunities into everyday routines.
Celebrating Every Step Forward
Progress does not always happen in giant leaps. Sometimes it is
a new word, a successful transition, an independent task, a
safer choice, a meaningful conversation, or a moment of
connection.
We establish meaningful goals, celebrate every single step
forward, and work together to transform hopes and wishes into
lasting changes.
What Is Autism?
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental
condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with
others, learns, processes information, and experiences the world
around them.
Autism is called a “spectrum” because it can look very different
from one person to another. Each individual has their own unique
combination of strengths, abilities, challenges, interests,
communication styles, and support needs.
Common Characteristics
Autistic individuals may experience differences in areas such as:
Communication — Differences in spoken language,
nonverbal communication, conversation, or expressing wants and
needs.
Social Interaction — Differences in
understanding social cues, initiating interactions, maintaining
conversations, or developing relationships.
Sensory Processing — Increased or decreased
sensitivity to sounds, lights, textures, movement, smells, or
other sensory experiences.
Flexibility & Transitions — Difficulty with
unexpected changes, transitions, or situations that differ from
familiar routines.
Not every individual with autism will experience all of these
characteristics, and the level of support needed can vary
significantly.
Autism Is More Than a Diagnosis
A diagnosis of autism does not define who a person is or determine
what they can accomplish. Autistic individuals have unique
personalities, strengths, interests, talents, and ways of
connecting with the world.
At Ponte Vedra Behavioral Health, we believe services should focus
on helping individuals develop meaningful skills while respecting
their individuality, dignity, preferences, and autonomy.
How ABA Can Support Individuals With Autism
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) can be used to teach and
strengthen functional skills that are meaningful to the individual
and family. Depending on individual needs and goals, services may
support:
Communication and functional language
Social interaction
Daily living and self-care skills
Independence
Safety skills
Community participation
Coping and flexibility
Learning readiness
Caregiver skills and support
Our focus is on meaningful progress and functional outcomes, not
simply changing behaviors because they appear different.
